Jiangnan Fruit Market Depressed after the Festival

Along with the end of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the sales volume and price of the Jiangnan fruit market has declined. On the day of festival, September 13th 2019, the fruit market already showed a downward trend, a stark contract comparing with the couple weeks before the festival came.




During the festival period, a boosted sales for various kinds of fruits was seen with only additional RMB 5-10 per package were added to the original price set, the fruit wholesalers said. Price is always something that can not be avoided talking about during the most prosperous period, the couple weeks before the festival came, but overprice would probably lead to the losing of the costumers.


In recent one week, the fruit market gradually becomes depressed which is described as “A continuous growth always leads the sales and prices of fruits to a downward trend afterwards”by the fruit wholesalers. Sales are general rather flat, while the price of various kind of fruits are dropped obviously. For fruits like Durian and mangosteen which were one of the most popular one bought by the consumers during the festival, a drop in price in different degree has been seen after the festival. Other than that, a significant price drop for American plum has been shown, selling at RMB 160 per package on average now. The price drop of golden dragon fruit was also very obvious, used selling at RMB 580 per 5 pounds, but now only at RMB 420 per 5 pounds. This situation also comes to apple, which used to be one of the most popular fruits picked by consumers but now is showing a reduction of the sales volume as well as a decline on price. Aksu sweetheart apples recently has just entered the market with the price set approximately at RMB 62 per 10 pounds only, due to the poorly performed fruit market recently.
