From February 23 to February 27, 2026, the Xinhua-China Banana Origin Price Index and the Xinhua-China (Hainan) Emperor Banana Origin Price Index both decreased compared to the previous period, while the Xinhua-Banana Wholesale Price Index for Sales Areas increased, and the Xinhua-Imported Banana Price Index remained unchanged. From February 23 to February 27, the average price of unpackaged bananas in Hainan was approximately 0.19USD per 500g, a decrease of 0.03 USD per 500g (11.96%) compared to the previous period (February 16 to February 20); the average price of unpackaged bananas in Yunnan was approximately 0.15USD per 500g; and the average price of unpackaged bananas in Guangxi was approximately 0.18USD per 500g, a decrease of 0.43USD per 500g (21.43%) compared to the previous period (February 16 to February 20).

Looking back at 2025, the Xinhua-China Banana Origin Price Index fluctuated in a pattern of "rise-fall-rise-fall-rebound": From February to April, the staggered supply of Hainan winter-spring bananas, Guangxi early-spring bananas, and Yunnan mountain bananas, coupled with the recovery in demand after the Spring Festival and the tight supply caused by cold waves in the producing areas, led to a rapid price increase; From April to June, concentrated shipments from the three major producing areas, coupled with rainy season losses, resulted in oversupply and a price decline; From July to September, Yunnan late-maturing bananas became the mainstay, with the summer peak consumption season and typhoon-induced production reduction supporting a second price surge; From September to October, the market entry of Guangxi autumn bananas and the diversion of autumn fruits led to a price bottom; After the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, influenced by multiple factors, the overall market remained weak and stable with relatively small fluctuations; From November to December, the market entry of Hainan autumn and winter bananas and the release of demand for holiday stockpiling led to a price rebound. Based on the collection points, the average transaction price of first-grade Emperor bananas from Chengmai County during this period (February 23 to February 27) was 0.23USD per 500g, a decrease of 15.79% compared to the previous period (February 16 to February 20); the average transaction price of second-grade Emperor bananas was 0.21USD per 500g, a decrease of 16.67% compared to the previous period (February 16 to February 20). In Ledong Li Autonomous County, the average transaction price of first-grade Emperor bananas was 0.23USD per 500g, a decrease of 15.79% compared to the previous period (February 16 to February 20); the average transaction price of second-grade Emperor bananas was 0.21USD per 500g, a decrease of 16.67% compared to the previous period (February 16 to February 20). It is anticipated that after the Spring Festival, due to the decline in demand for stockpiling and cautious purchasing by merchants, there may be a slight correction in the short term. Subsequently, as the supply of Hainan bananas is replenished and the quality differentiation intensifies, the market will return to a structural pattern of "stability with slight increases and premium prices for high-quality products".
